We
don't know how the vote or election is going to turn out at this point, but one
thing is for sure--she is putting in the work. I am a non-affiliate voter, and
I like progressive issues that are for ordinary people.
And
I must say, she is incorporating a lot of them in her campaign. I know she
can't do it alone, and she'll need somewhat of a "progressive
congress" to help pass things into law; but the point is she is or appears
to be open to signing a lot of positive things.
If
Joe manages to get a cease fire, and a two-state plan in Gaza—which, shouldn’t actually
be that hard, they will be well on the way to another term in office.
And honestly, at this point—Drs. Jill Stein and Cornel West should help in the process and welcome it. If they can’t do it themselves, at least be civil, if not kind to the person who is at least speaking their language. Then after the election, start immediately working on your issues! It is not that hard to
understand. Even if they were on every ballot this cycle, they would still have to get votes from the electoral college. Can we just admit they waited too long for this election cycle and should start strategizing for the next?If
so, let’s now look at what needs to be changed.
1.
Push for change in the way the primary
process works. Everybody should be
inclusive in the primary process, not just Republicans and Democrats in every
state. If the federal
government contributes to presidential campaigns—we all should have a say
about the process. I think changing the
process to having one generally primary election process similar to the
actual general election would work well. Let all the candidates debate each
other and have rounds of Rank Choice Voting to
narrow the candidates down. AND, I think
all of the debates should go down on C-Span.
Yes, this may sound familiar because I might have mentioned it before. Taking the networks out of presenting
information to the public may end up making things better for everyone. C-Span covers a lot of governmental events,
and would be the ideal platform for debates, townhalls, and other such programs.
2.
Have candidates use their own social media to
promote their campaigns. It should be
mandatory for candidates to have to post their platforms online as well as
print media if they desire. Truth will
be the main purpose of this. The need to
truthfully say what they are doing without being vague or slick.
3.
Change the laws concerning truthfulness in
debate and remove Qualified Immunity.
Any one holding public office should fear lying to the people. Enough of this they can say anything during
debates. Debates are supposed to be
based on facts. Anybody can bullshit and
lie. That needs to change.
4.
Clarify laws concerning voting. Laws should clear concerning voting—and simplified. If you are an American, you should be able to
vote. Amendments and even the Constitution
itself should be edited to truly reflect the ideal of ALL MEN BEING CREATED EQUAL…
WITH EQUAL RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES. AND
REPORATIONS SHOULD BE AFFORDED to people, mainly blacks and African Americans
who have been discriminated against systematically. Once America faces that issue—everything else
will start falling in place.
5.
Remove big money out of politics. Instead
of worrying about how much each donor gives to a candidate, place a limit that
a candidate can spend on their entire campaign.
This would go a long way in evening the playing field and limit how much
corporations participate in elections.
So, if the limit is $2 million dollars, then it’s Two million dollars
for everything—and receipts need to be shown.
Outside of that, only word of mouth and endorsements are allowed.
Those are just a few changes (or something similar)
progressives can work on. I think they
would get a lot of support too. People
are tired of being begged for money and constantly barraged with commercials
everywhere you look. Things have to change. And right after the election is the
time to start it.
