Black Folk and Progressives, Stop Waiting For People To Give You Permission

 

Hey y’all. I’ve been doing my new job as a watcher and listener.  There are a lot of great messages out there.  And, there are a few troubled voices.

Generally speaking, I want to encourage you all to move forward to make your own motion to add to the greater good.  For too long, I think Black folk and Progressives in general have been waiting for people to give permission to move.  So, we try to join larger groups before we take action. 

Though it is true that generally there is safety in larger numbers, there can also be greater confusion.   Two of my favorite verses in the Word (this particular reference being in the Bible) gives encouragement even if you don’t have the numbers.

The book of Joshua in 23:10 states, “One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.”  [Joshua 23:10] Meaning alone, one believing in the Word can send 1,000 enemies/demons fleeing.

In the book of Ecclesiastes, 4:9-12 it states that, “Two are better than one; because they have a good

reward for their labour. ¹⁰ For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. ¹¹ Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? ¹² And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” [Ecclesiastes 4:9-12].  This passage shows the potential strength of two or three who are working together, with the same focus.  Now, yes, as seen in the first example, you can work alone and be successful—but having some one fully on your team makes a difference.

What I’m messaging to you is that you can start right now, making a difference by giving yourself permission.  And in this current fight to uphold justice, restore truth in place of the lies, and secure voting rights and other liberties permanently, we need every person with a voice to speak up and speak out.   Use your social media platforms and word of mouth to tell others and teach others about what you know to be true.  Come with the facts to challenge the lies.

I believe that it is true that more people voted against Trump than voted for him.  And we need those voices now to keep the lies and  over reach in check.  Don’t let the conservative /MAGA crowd gain another inch. Fight them back with your voice. Fight them back with truth. All of government, in America, must answer to the people.  WE DON’T ELECT KINGS HERE.  And we vote out those who don’t work for the good of the people and uphold laws and honor the laws of labor for workers.  That means both Trump and his republican friends must all be held accountable.  Along, with some of the spineless Democrats too afraid to stand up to power.  This is your time and your season to operate in your own agency.

Even if you get fired (temporarily) from your government job you still retain the knowledge and skills.  Use them to help yourself and others that might be facing changes in social security and healthcare.  Don’t be bullied into silence.  Justice will be served.  Keep the faith.
