I was checking out my Substack today and ran across this quick post about some of the things Senator Warnock is doing in congress. Apparently some people have a problem with it. Why? I don't know.

In my opinion, stopping equity firms from buying up regular (single-family) homes is the exact thing to do.  Do you realize the importance of this?  Imagine the hundreds of thousands of homes that can be on the market for regular people to buy—instead of corralled in some corporation or equity firm stockpile of property; wasting away just to

drive up the prices of homes and real estate.

That should never have been allowed in the first place.  I'm glad someone had the wherewithal to do something about the practice.  Greed is becoming more and more prevalent in every aspect of business.  When will enough be enough?

 My answer: When we, the people, refuse to let it go on.   People often say that “the government can’t be trusted” or “the government isn’t doing anything”.  Well, the government can do nothing on its own—as an entity.  In my opinion, the government is not a thing.  It has always been the people. 

 And if you want good, fair government—then elect good, fair people in office to run it.  And make it easier to remove them when corruption occurs.  Businesses are constantly sending lobbyists to Washington, DC damn near on a daily routine.  That should also cease.  They should not be allowed to lobby any individual congressperson. 

Let them come before a committee or congress to present their position.  And if they are caught lobbying any other way, they should be fined, and the person taking the bribe, I mean meeting, should be reprimanded.

But, I digress.  Kudos to Senator Warnock for his efforts and those who also signed on to get this legislation passed. We’ll cover other issues in later posts.
